The customer wanted to fill moulds from a hopper on load cells, while :
- Scans the barcode on each mold, enabling them to be filled with weights ranging from 6 to 65 kgs (tolerance +/- 50 grams).
- Guarantees sufficient throughput to keep up with machine speed
The filling system should not interfere with the demolding phase.
- Transfer type: flexible screw
- Feeding unit: A floor-mounted Big-bag emptying station was set up to feed a 5-meter-high hopper via a flexible mechanical feeder. This weighing hopper, also designed by TIM, is equipped with a chassis featuring 3 guide wheels, and an integrated feeder. This assembly rests on a rail that allows the weighing unit to rotate. A system has been designed to block the hopper when it is in the "mold filling" position.
- Layout: The hopper axis was offset by 2 meters from the mold filling axis, in order to allow for and free up the demolding area.
- Flow rate: A special motorization has been chosen for the filler to obtain an amplitude of operation. This process enables the first part of the filling operation to be carried out at high speed, and the cycle to be completed at a lower speed to meet the required weighing tolerance (+/-50gr).
- Control: Managed by a PLC and a touch-sensitive operator console. A barcode reader is connected to assign the weight of the material to be dosed.
