Feeding two extruder-blow molders

The TIM project & production

The customer manufactures milk bottles with two blow-molding extruders.

  • He wanted to supply them with virgin, shredded polyethylene (PE).
  • He also wanted to reintegrate his waste into his production.

The TIM answer

  • Installation

DCL type feeder (2 products: virgin and regrind) feeding both extruders

Virgin material (PE) fed by a pneumatic feeder from a big-bag emptier

Line for recovering extruder production waste by conveyor belt and pneumatic transport

Waste shredding line and feed to the shredded hopper of the feeder

  • Machine feed dosing

2-product dispenser with 600L capacity for both products combined

    • Virgin: 200 L dryer for drying material to remove moisture from the product
    • Milled material: 400 L hopper to store the increased flow of milled material during extruder start-ups

Once dosed, the material is conveyed by a flexible mechanical mixer to each extruder hopper.

  • Virgin power supply

A pneumatic feed unit feeds the feeder's empty hopper from a ground storage hopper fed by a Big-bag.

  • Waste recycling

Each extruder has its own conveyor belt line and pneumatic conveying system, enabling waste and production scrap to be collected at the extruder exit. The waste is transported to a buffer hopper upstream of the grinder, to regulate the flow of waste before it is fed to the grinder.

The speed of the shredder's feed belt ensures regular feeding. Once ground, the material leaving the mill is pneumatically transferred to the feeder's grinding hopper.

Conveyed materials

  • Virgin materials: polyethylene granulate
  • Shredded materials: PE shreds (recycling)
